KNF&T Staffing Resources is happy to announce that Ken Coleman has been named the first quarter winner for KNF&T’s 2019 Staffing Employee of the Year contest.
Ken had a career as a freelance illustrator, but was always interested in administrative work – particularly in the medical field. He decided to pursue this passion and enrolled in an administrative planning program with YMCA Training, Inc. The course ended with a three month internship at a large Boston-based hospital. After that, Ken turned to KNF&T to help him on his search for an administrative career.
Ken met with our consultant, Irene. Of his first meeting, he explains that “it was a very cool interview and I was excited. I had originally thought I was in a difficult position to get administrative work. But now that I had some experience with both my internship and training, I was excited to move forward with positions from KNF&T.”
After about a week, Irene contacted Ken for a role. They were so impressed with him that he interviewed on a Friday and started the following Monday! Once that contract ended, Ken began a new position that aligns perfectly to his interests – an administration position at a hospital.
“What I like about the job,” notes Ken, “is that it’s on the medical side. The people on my floor are there for all different reasons. For me, it’s creating a well-rounded knowledge of the medical field. I keep many different plates spinning, which I enjoy, and there are a lot of interesting challenges to solve.”
His consultant, Irene, expands on Ken’s star qualities: “What has stood out to me is his can-do attitude and follow-through. Ken takes a proactive approach to all that is asked of him and thinks creatively of how to improve performance for both himself and the offices he has been placed in. For example, he is currently creating a workflow chart for reporting procedures – a project he does in his free time that benefits all employees.”
Irene adds, “Ken is punctual and professional, treating everyone with the utmost respect, and is a pleasure to work with. We are so happy he has been named our first quarter winner!”
Ken is from West Roxbury, MA and graduated from Syracuse University in 2007.
