JOB SUMMARY

Are you an experienced accounting professional with exceptional leadership skills ready to leverage your background in a new industry? In this direct hire Controller role, the successful candidate will manage all aspects of the accounting department and be responsible for ensuring that the team has the skills and knowledge required to be able to produce accurate financial statements and reports.  The successful candidate will also implement policies and procedures for financial reporting and play a key role on the leadership team and in strategic planning. Duties include:

  • Entering and approving daily wires to receive and disburse funds on a daily basis
  • Producing accurate financial statements and report preparation
  • Reviewing, analyzing, & reporting on income and expense accounts
  • Ensuring accurate postings to the general ledger & reconciliation of accounts
  • Guiding team members in general journal entries from sale results
  • Overseeing the month end close process
  • Providing coaching on performance & resolving employee relations issues
  • Training staff in all functions related to the accounting department
  • Working closely with and managing the company’s accounts receivable and payable accounts team
  • Serving as backup to executive payroll processing (in-house)
  • Overseeing annual performance review process & pay increases
  • Preparing quarterly and annual payroll tax return filings and monthly sales tax return statements
  • Assisting the external CPA in completing annual tax returns and accompanying data
  • Preparing & processing annual year end 1099’s for vendors
  • Handling cash, wire transfers, checks; reconciling customers’ accounts
  • Ensuring all team members are providing outstanding customer service
  • Maintaining a culture of cooperation and congeniality for the team

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • At least 5 years’ accounting experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Proven track record & understanding of accounting principles, AR/AP, & collections procedures
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience with a desire & comfort level coaching, mentoring and developing employees to achieve meaningful results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office
  • Valid driver’s license
